Website Manager

So you volunteered to be Team Mom. Now what?

Generally speaking, the Team Mom helps with the administrative tasks for the team in order to allow the Manager to concentrate on coaching, the players and team development. Don't feel like you have to do it alone. You can absolutely delegate some of these duties to other parents on your team who are willing to help!

EMAIL/Text PARENTS

  •  Send out an email ("Hey I'm the Team Parent") as soon as you can.
  • You should keep parents informed about what's going on with the team as well as send reminders about league-wide events such as Opening Day and pictures etc.

UNIFORMS

  • The league's Uniform Coordinator orders team jerseys and hats (included as part of the registration fee). Managers will be asked to pick up the uniforms and distribute them to the team.
  • The manager will decide what color pants, socks and belt the players should wear. Make sure that families are aware of what items they need to purchase.
  • Each player will receive a Little League patch, which must be attached to their uniform 2 inches below left shoulder. Remind families to iron it onto their player's jersey before the first game if it is not already part of their jersey. (Patch requirements and instructions)

SCOREKEEPER, PITCH COUNTER, GAME COORDINATOR AND SNACK SHACK SCHEDULES

  • Make up a schedule for every game and assign the volunteer positions that are needed as either the home or visiting team.
  • You can make a schedule and ask people to sign up, or you can assign dates/roles to people. Either way, it's a good idea to remind people before each game if it's their turn to do a specific job.
  • The home team provides the scorekeeper and pitch and Field Maintenance crew
  • The visiting team provides the pitch counter

AFTER-GAME SNACK SCHEDULE

  • Optional. Once you get your game schedule, pick a team player that will be responsible for bringing snacks that day.
  • Parents can also buy team specials from the snackbar
  • Please check with parents to make sure their child doesn't have any food allergies.

PICTURE DAY

  • Inform the families on your team of your scheduled picture time on picture day.

TEAM PARTY

  • Team Pizza Parties can be organized as often as the teams would like during the season. It is a time to build team bonding off the field and get to know other parents on your team.
  • Organize and plan an end-of-season party for your team. Keep it simple -- do a potluck, or just order pizza and have everyone chip in. It's often convenient to arrange a team party right after the last game of the season, depending on the schedule. Some teams go big for their end of season party, it is up to you and your team on what you do.

MANAGER/COACH APPRECIATION

  • A card signed by the players and families is a nice way to show appreciation for all the hard work that the manager and coaches do during the season.
  • Managers and coaches do not expect gifts, but if your team wants to do that then feel free to organize it.
  • You should poll the parents and decide whether or not to purchase a gift and if so what to get, as well as collect money to purchase the gift.

FAN WEAR

  • Purchasing fan wear (sweatshirts, tee shirts, etc.) is optional.
  • If you want to do team sweatshirts it's a good idea to place the order early in the season.
  • Choose colors and sizes carefully and check each player's name and number if getting them printed on items.
  •  Eastside Little League uses a vendor that is very affordable and has great quality items, please reach out to get more info.

TROPHIES/Gifts

  • Optional. If your team would like to do an additional team trophy or gift you can collect team money and order them.
